In order for someone to recertify with WMTC, their school's curriculum must follow the minimum Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative (WMEC) certification standards. We will not recertify the graduates of schools who offer exclusively online certifications.
If you took a course from a wilderness medicine school that is not on the list below you may be eligible to recertify with us if we can confirm that your school follows the WMEC certification standards. Please email us with a copy of your certification card and a link to the school's website.
Approved Wilderness Medicine Schools
WMTC courses exceed the minimum certification standards set by the Wilderness Medicine Education Collaborative. If you are a graduate of another wilderness medicine school, please familiarize yourself with our pedagogy, educational strategies, the course syllabus, and our 2023 Patient SOAP note before registering for a recertification course. In addition, consider purchasing our digital handbook; it contains significantly more information than our print handbook [included in the course tuition] and will help you prepare for the course. Expect to spend 4-8 hours or more preparing for your course.
