Our Wilderness First Aid course is designed for people taking half or full-day trips, those traveling with reliable cell phone coverage, and where outside assistance is typically available within a few hours. WFA courses are an introduction to wilderness expedition medicine, focusing on general concepts, basic anatomy, physiology/pathophysiology, assessment, & treatment.
Because WFAs scratch the surface of many topics, many WFA graduates return to take more a advanced course to go more in-depth and get more hands-on practice.
Certifications Included in WFA Courses
  • Wilderness First Aid
  • Injectible Epinephrine
  • ± Adult/Child WCPR & AED

All WFA courses include CPR training. CPR and AED certification are options that may be available depending on the course - see the details page for each course for more.

Our WFA certification exceeds WMEC certification standards endorsed by the WMS. Our WFA also meets American Camping Association and Scouts of America trip leader requirements.

WMTC WFA certifications are valid for a maximum of three years; there is no grace period. To recertify, you must complete another WFA course.

Registering for the Online Module only

We recommend taking an entire hybrid course whenever possible. There may, however, be some cases when it makes sense to register for and begin the Online Module before or without registering for the In-person Session:
  • You'd like to get started on the Online Module and there are not currently any In-person Sessions that fit your schedule.
  • You have time to complete the Online Module now, and may not have time later.
  • You are interested in the education contained in the Online Module and don't need certification.
While you may register for the Online Module only now, you will need to register for and complete an In-person Session within one year of registering for the Online Module to receive certification.

WFA Online Module Tuition: $140
