Student Logistics
These downloads contain important information to help you prepare for your course. Use the course syllabus as a guideline for making your travel and study plans; note that topics and times may change subject to local weather conditions. Remember you must be present and engaged for the entire practical session to be eligible for certification. Be prepared. Thoroughly read the student handbook as it provides detailed information about expectations—yours and ours—what to bring, wear, and how to study. Please contact our office or the course sponsor with any questions.

This hybrid course is sponsored by Puget Sound Outdoors. The 5-day practical session is held on the UPS campus in Thompson Hall (Building F on the map), room 193 on the first floor. Fields and some wooded areas offer ample outdoor space within walking distance of classrooms for practice simulations. More complicated and interesting simulation sites are within a short drive at Point Defiance State Park and Owen Beach. The university does not provide transportation to off-campus simulation sites; be prepared to carpool.
