The practical session for this hybrid course is held on private property at the eastern edge of the San Juan Mountains near the town of Del Norte, CO. There is plenty of interesting terrain for simulations including a creek, aspen grove, and sloping hillsides with cactus, pinon, and juniper making this an excellent and beautiful setting for a course. The classroom will be located in a large heated shop. Labs and simulations will be just outside of the classroom or within a brief walk. There are a couple hotels in the town of Del Norte along with a grocery store and restaurants. Limited tent/car camping is available onsite. If you wish to camp, you must contact the course instructor prior to the start of Part 2 for details. Del Norte is a 15 minute drive from the property therefore all students will be expected to bring their lunches and snacks each day as there will not be enough time during the lunch break to head to town. There will be access to a microwave and refrigerator on site. Camp stoves are also welcome.
