Logistics
The practical session for this course is taught at the Standing Stone Meeting Area on the Kalamataca Ranch property in Sisters, OR.
Directions: To get to the course location, go west from Sisters, OR on Hwy 20/126. Pass the sign for Black Butte Ranch. Turn south (left) onto McAllister Road (the road after the turnoff to Black Butte Ranch). Stay on the pavement for 1.5 miles until you reach the “pavement ends” sign, then continue on the dirt road for 0.7 miles. Parking is on the left. Park and walk north to the meeting area. Refer to the maps below.

Lodging: Numerous hotels and BnBs in Sisters and Bend.
Camping: Standing Stone has camping for $10/night on-site, complete with outdoor kitchen facilities (cooler, 3 burner stove with propane and a chairs, tables and a 5-gallon water jug), an outhouse, and outdoor handwash stations. There is also free dispersed camping within 20-30 mins of the course site and numerous pay site options with the USFS.
Classroom: All course activities will be held on-site.
Lunch: Bring a packed lunch (strongly advised); There are numerous grocery stores and restaurants in Bend.
Parking: On site.
